Courses

We offer a wide range of different Spanish courses. These can be categorised into four types:

  • Standard Courses
  • Specialised Courses
  • Activity Courses
  • Private Lessons

Standard Courses

These courses are suitable for anyone who wants to learn general Spanish. They are available for all levels of student, from complete beginner to advanced.

These are typically called Semi-Intensive, Intensive or Super Intensive. All of these courses focus on general Spanish, that is to say, they are not specialised in any one particular area and encompass all areas of the Spanish language. The only difference between these three courses is the number of lessons per week. As you would expect, Semi-Intensive offers the least amount of lessons per week, the Intensive offers more Spanish lessons per week, and finally the Super Intensive offers the most number of lessons per week.

You also sometimes see Reduced Group courses. As the title suggests, they are the same as the courses above with the exception that the lessons have a reduced number of students per class. This is a personal choice. Some people prefer to form part of a larger group, but others prefer to have a smaller group. If it is of particular importance to you that the group be of an especially reduced size, please choose one of the reduced group options.

Specialised Courses

These courses are for those who want to focus on one very particular area of Spanish language, or who have a very specific need to take a course, such as exam preparation.

There are a wide range of specialised courses but they are easy to identify as typically they have names such as A Level Revision, Business Spanish or Medical Spanish.

It is important to realise that some of these specialised courses are not suitable for all levels. For example, for most Business Spanish courses it is necessary for you to have at least an upper-intermediate level of Spanish. On our price lists you can see what level of Spanish is required for each specialised course. If you have any doubts whatsoever if the course is suitable for you, or if you are unable to find the information you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will happily answer this for you.

Activity Courses

These combine the above mentioned standard Spanish course, with the addition of an activity. For example, Spanish and Salsa, Spanish and Cookery or Spanish and Cinema.

Generally speaking, these courses are suitable for most levels. However, there are a couple of exceptions such as Spanish and Cinema which requires a minimum level of Spanish. In the case of Spanish and Cinema, the main reason for this is that as the cinema part of the course includes films in Spanish, then without a certain level of Spanish, it would be difficult to follow this part of the course.

Private Lessons

These are a little different to all of the above as they can be tailor-made to suit your needs. They usually suit two types of learners.

Firstly, if you want to attend a general Spanish course, but feel that you benefit more from having one-to-one private lessons. It may be that you have very little time available to spend in Spain and you wish to ensure that you get as much teacher contact as possible. If this is the case, private lessons would be an excellent choice.

Secondly, they are suitable if you need to focus on one very specific area which may not be covered in the range of courses the school normally offers. For example, if you are a student that needs to focus on Spanish for international trade, financial law disputes, chemical engineering or any other highly specific area, please let us know and one of our teachers can tailor a course to meet your specific needs and criteria.
